[IS Question] lightning source?

Post by inquistable » Tue Jun 19, 2018 2:08 pm

Does Lightning Source work similar to Create Space? Do your books end up on Amazon through LS?

Does LS offer ISBN's?

LS is for bigtime publishers only. We indies use IS (IngramSpark), a part of LS. Yes, IS works similar to CS, but IS has a $49 setup fee, which means you want to make dang sure that everything is correct before you ever even think about uploading. If you want to do a revision that's $25. So, a lot of people do a paperback with CS, get some copies and proof their work with a fine tooth comb, ask friends to do the same, pay for editing if they have the money, and when they are 100% happy, then they go to IS.

IS does not sell ISBN's, you need to go to the ISBN agency for your country and buy those separately. If you're in the USA the ISBN Agency is Bowker and you buy ISBN's through http://www.myidentifiers.com. Don't do anything silly while you're there - do not buy barcodes or copyrights or anything except the ISBN's.
